Induction guidelines

It is important to welcome our new employees and assist them in becoming an integral part of the Curtin community. Curtin's approach to induction includes activities that occur:

  • before employment
  • at the Work Area, and
  • at the University Level.

Induction Guidelines

These are intended to help anyone who has responsibility to assist new employees settle into their new position. It provides a framework and a set of checklists for preparing for a new staff members arrival and ongoing induction. It is not an exhaustive list and may therefore be modified to suit the induction needs of any new staff member.

An appropriate staff member of the work area should supply this checklist to the new employee on their first day in the department/area/school/unit, and then work through the information with them. It is recommended that the checklist be completed for all employees, whether full-time, part-time, permanent or temporary.

New staff are required to complete a number of training modules as part of their induction program (refer to Induction Guidelines).
