Your Voice: Curtin's staff survey

Curtin’s leadership actively seeks feedback from staff through the Your Voice Staff Satisfaction Survey. It is a chance for staff to share what it is like working at Curtin.

All areas receiving reports are actively encouraged to develop a collaborative approach to identifying actions to respond to and further improve on aspects of the Your Voice survey. These can be developed as part of operational business planning and can involve a separate Action Plan.  Traditionally, action plans have been uploaded to this website to provide examples for other areas considering their own actions. Areas are encouraged to ensure they continue to monitor the effectiveness and progress of their agreed actions in a collaborative way as part of their operational responsibilities. Assistance and support is available from Curtin’s People and Culture Team through both Organisational Development Consultants and HR Business Partners.

Professor Deborah Terry, Vice Chancellor, is the executive sponsor for Your Voice. However, all members of the Senior Executive Team are responsible for leading activities to support improvements in staff satisfaction  in their respective Faculties and Portfolio areas.

Our Your Voice survey provides the opportunity for all staff at Curtin to:

  • have an opportunity to tell us what it is like to work at Curtin
  • provide a benchmark we can use to measure the success of elements of our new Strategic Plan, including our People and Culture enabling plan
  • allow us to measure how well we are doing compared to other Australian universities
  • measure Curtin’s climate (staff satisfaction and engagement levels)
  • inform decision making processes related to working conditions, and
  • help establish the conditions for embracing a culture of innovation.

Actions in response to the Your Voice 2017 survey results should be developed in collaboration with staff and can be submitted to People & Culture. Once plans have been received, they will be uploaded to the People & Culture website and available to all staff. Where possible, these actions should be incorporated as part of ongoing operational planning and management arrangements to ensure effective progress on agreed actions is maintained and reviewed for further improvements.

If you have queries regarding the survey or the survey results please contact us via email. A member of the People and Culture team will work with you on understanding and interpreting your results and developing actions in response.
